08/2025 Two papers accepted to IEEE NER 2025 and an oral presentation (Nanosymposium) at Neuroscience 2025! I will be in San Diego this November to present our work in motor unit spike trains-to-force ML pipeline that works across different subjects and tasks, and our work in motor unit tracking in constrained and unconstrained finger force tasks.

07/2025 Delighted to attend and present a poster at the Summer School on Human Interfacing and augmentation! This was a great opportunity to discuss the feasability of motoneuron-level control interfaces and other emerging trends in the field.
05/2025 I participated in the BR41N.IO Hackathon! My teammates and I analysed EEG from stroke patients during hand motor imagery tasks using Riemannian manifolds, neural networks, and feature importance analyses. Our goal was to improve task classification accuracy and draw phyosologically-meaningfuls insights. Our code and slides are available in this open repository.
03/2025 As part of my visit to Lima (Peru), I presented my work on robotics and neural interfaces for human augmentation. The talk is available here in Spanish.
02/2025 Ended the semester by presenting a poster at the AI Day at Uni Bayreuth, representing the AI Association. It was a great opportunity to connect with others using AI/ML in their research!
02/2025 New paper accepted! Our paper on the body-powered supernumerary robotic finger was accepted at ICORR 2025, part of RehabWeek taking place this May in Chicago.
12/2024 New repository published! Released the bpSRF, a body-powered supernumerary robotic finger for hand augmentation that requires no electronic components. The repository includes files for 3D printing and full assembly instructions.
11/2024 Two papers published on the experimental characterization of a soft robotic device for mechanotherapy and the computational analysis of its interaction with skin-muscle tissue.

07/2024 Completed the certification for the NeuroAI course by Neuromatch Academy. Ready to apply what I learned on neuro-inspired AI and ML!
07/2024 Presented a poster at the HybridNeuro 2024 meeting in Maribor, Slovenia. It was a great opportunity to delve into techniques for improving the motor unit decomposition pipeline and network with talented academics in the field.
05/2024 Featured by UBTaktuell for co-founding the new Bayreuth AI Association, aiming to create a space for the open exchange of ideas and experiences in the hands-on use of AI/ML algorithms.
04/2024 Presented a poster at the Neural Control of Movement (NCM) meeting in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Highlights included talks and posters by Meta on non-invasive neural interfacing.
12/2023 Presented a poster at the Neurophysiological Bases of Human Movement meeting at King’s College London, UK. Discussions with other researchers applying motor unit decomposition inspired new approaches for upcoming projects.
12/23 Our lab was featured by Zeit, SAT1, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and idw regarding our “live-in-lab,” an apartment equipped with sensors for real-world human behavior studies. More information in this press release.

11/2023 Attended the Augmentation Day workshop at Imperial College London, featuring expert talks and live demos of the MUVE system. Controlling extra arms was a surreal experience.
09/2023 Featured by Andina News and El Peruano regarding our patent on finger covers for hand prostheses, recognized at an Inventions Contest in Korea (KIWIE 2023).
07/2023 Our paper on human augmentation was featured as Editor’s choice: interfacing humans with machines in Nature Science Reports.
06/2023 A month jam-packed with conferences! I attended the 10th BCI meeting in Brussels and presented (virtually) at the IEEE BioSmart 23′ on my work on supernumerary robotic fingers for assistance (link to paper). Then, I also gave an oral presentation at the 2023 Summer School on Neurorehabilitation on my work in motor unit decomposition over individual fingers (link to slides, short paper in Springer coming up). Finally, I also attended Munich’s Automatica.
02/2023 Lab retreat time! Presented a poster at the Bayreuth Lab for Digital Sciences (BayLDS) Day together with our lab colleagues visiting from London. Then, we spent three days at Kloster Speinshart for a science retreat. We even met the town’s mayor! (Link to photos)
10/2022 Presented a poster at the Third Neuroadaptive Technologies Conference, at Lübennau (Germany) on my previous work in human augmentation and motor learning.
06/2022 Started new PhD studies and research assistant position at the Chair of Digital Health with a Focus on Data Science (University of Bayreuth, Germany). Excited to continue researching on human augmentation!

09/2019 Successfully presented my MSc thesis on human augmentation and motor control after working at Imperial’s Brain and Behaviour Laboratory. In conclusion, the ability to control an extra robotic finger highly depends on the skill controlling the interface (using foot motor control in our case). You can read my thesis here.
